Dragons are born under the sign of luck. In the West the legend of saint George, has done much to damage our understanding of the Dragon's personality, which is usually regarded as evil. However, in china is the national emblem and considered the harbinger of the four great blessings; long life, virtue, harmony and wealth. Created from fable the Dragon leads the famous Chinese new year carnival, which provide a perfect clue to the Dragons larger than life personality.

Dragons are usually showmen, characters who are both boastful and precocious. They are hot heads who let their hearts rule their heads. Dragon people love to stimulate people around them. This they by virtue of their extraordinary self belief; the more they believe in themselves, the more they pass belief on to others. Put another way, the carnival king is a mixture of cheerleader and magician, which explains much of the Dragons influence. The history shows that those born in the Dragon year are unusually blessed.

An important ingredient in the Dragon make-up is their desire for perfection. Once they set their minds on a task, they will see it through to the bitter end, regardless of any merit involved. As a result they are double quick to find fault with anyone who doesn't give 101 per cent twenty-five hours a day, eight days a week. Curiously, a Dragon is most critical of those he loves most dearly and tends to create an embarrassing scene over the most trivial incident. No one holds a grudge longer. It goes without saying that Dragons make the world's worst diplomats and even poorer gossips always getting their facts wrong.

For all their abundant wealth of self belief and inner certainty, the Dragon cannot stand routine of any kind. Should a Dragon feel imprisoned either spiritually or physically they will almost certainly go mad. Once in decline, a Dragon tends to become lazy, fat and bitter. Impetuous and arrogant, Dragons are easily infatuated and chase endlessly after lost causes. Consequently, Dragons are often found making fools of themselves. For all their outward brashness and apparent lack of sensitivity, the Dragon has a romantic and generous heart.

Because the Dragon is a deeply masculine sign, woman born under its influence do not find life quite the same bowl of cherries as their male counterparts. Relationships are more difficult for female Dragons, it must be added, do not make natural parents or nurses.

The three phases of the Dragons life will be varied, marked by a difficult childhood. Here the baby Dragon will misunderstood by parents and classmates; a tough time in which Dragons will fall, never to rise. In the middle phase, the Dragon is expected to make as many friends as enemies. Fame and wealth usually come easily. In old age, a Dragon will find a life without regret. Always ready to lead one more carnival, Dragons are very much what we make them.
