<h2> Expert assistance to the Somaliland National Electoral Commission</h2>
<h3>September 2008</h3>
<div id="newstext"> <p>In 2009 ERIS undertook an assessment mission to Somaliland, to provide support and training to the new <a href="http://www.necsomaliland.net/home/default.php">National Electoral Commission</a>, to assess the preparations for the coming elections and to review the state of the Voter Register. </p>
<p>In 2010 ERIS has sent experts in Voter Registration and the verification of databases to assist in cleaning and validating the voter register.</p>
<p>Everything that could be done technically to identify and remove duplicates and invalid registrations has now been completed, and the National Electoral commission has now undertaken a Display and Validation period to confirm the valid names on the register and to issue secure Voter ID cards. The final voter register will include only those voters who have been properly validated. </p>
<p>Separately ERIS has provided experts in Election Management, Administration, Voter Education, Training, and Website Development, and has brought Dr. Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the Ghana Electoral Commission and Secretary of the Association of African Electoral Bodies, to the launch of the Electoral Code of Conduct, to review the Commission’s plans and preparations and to give advice. </p>
<p>Election Day has now been announced for June 26th, and ERIS are working with the staff of the Election Commission to complete all preparations in time.</p>
